Video of Flurry and Peanut

Just to test out the camera on my PPC 6700, I took a quick video of Flurry and Peanut. Peanut follows Flurry everywhere. The video was taken at night in kinda low light. That's The Daily Show you hear in the background I think. You can use Quicktime to view: FlurrynPeanut.mp4

CU Slaughtered by Nebraska 30-3

Man, Barnett needs to go. Sure I thought he was a cool dude when I was 10 and he took all of us at football camp out for ice cream. Now in my opinion he is a horrible coach who blames everyone but himself for the team’s issues - he should have been fired years ago based on performance, even before all the controversy started to surround him last year. I am glad I didn’t get my season tix this year – they wanted a $1,000 per seat donation to their “slush fund" (which incidentally is being investigated: Foundation Audit.)

Miller's Rock Hike 10-08-2005

We went for a hike today up to Miller's Rock. This was Flurry's first hike with her new pack - and she did great. It was a beautiful day for a short hike. We ended up going around 8 miles and there were only a few other people on the trail.

The Frames - Bluebird Theater 10-07-2005

Went to The Frames concert last night. It was an amazing show. I've seen em many times over the past 6 or 7 years - mainly in Chicago, where they have a pretty good following. I was a little worried how the Denver fans would take to em. It was great, the fans were great and we were right up front with a bunch of people who know almost as many of the songs as us. They are by far my favorite band - especially live. If you ever get a chance to check them out - DO....their studio albums are good, but live they are great.

GABF 2005

This past weekend I attended the Great American Beer Festival. 1,669 Beers on tap - the most beers on tap in one place ever. I've gone to GABF every year the past 4 or 5 years and it has grown every year. A lot of fun and they broke open the Sam Adams Utopia towards the end of the day - not sure if you can call it a beer - this batch was 28% alcohol. Here is a link to this year's winners. If you are into home brewing or just enjoy good beer...I suggest becoming a member of the American Homebrewer's Association. I have been a member for 5 years and not only do you get good home brew tips, you also get pub discounts all over the place (usually 20% off food and beverage or happy hour prices any time).

DMB and Neville Bros Hurricane Relief Concert

We went to the Dave Matthews Band concert last night at Red Rocks. All proceeds were donated to various charities that benefit people affected by hurricane katrina. More than $1 million was raised. The lineup included The John Butler Trio, The Neville Brothers and Dave Matthews Band. I didn't get home until close to 2 am b/c DMB played until almost midnight. As usual, it was a great concert but some of the songs dragged on far too long (I hear they were shooting footage for an upcoming live at Red Rocks DVD). Ivan Neville joined DMB for a 19 minute rendition of Exodus which was great (but could have been cut to 10 mins easy and still been good). Some fans were probably disappointed that DMB didn't play some of their older work, but it was all for a good cause.

Introduced Peanut to Flurry today!

I was a little bit worried about the introduction because Peanut is SO small - and hops around like a bunny. But it went well, Peanut just went up to Flurry sniffed her nose and Flurry then proceeded to make a slobbery mess out of her, licking her with that tongue of hers which is about the same size as Peanut! They are good friends now. Here are more pictures of the introduction: http://boulderbros.com/7101/flurrypeanut

Broncos vs. Colts

Went to the Broncos pre-season game last night. It was a pretty good game. The Broncos won 37-24. The best play of the game was a long touchdown run by Mike Anderson. Can't beat my brother's seats - 50 yard line!

93.3 Next Fest

Went to the 93.3 Next Fest at Red Rocks last night. I mainly went to see the Fray (from Denver) and the Killers. In addition there was some dude named Richard Johnston from Memphis that played 4 instruments at once - blues music. Too bad he wasn't on Beale street when I was down in Memphis earlier this year. There was also some band named Spoon and another band I can't remember. Was a blast, pretty much every band was good.

Mundu 3.0

Testing out Mundu v3 for the treo. While I have been using Verichat for the past year, I have had a number of problems with resets using background SMS mode. In addition to improving background operation, Mundu v3 only has a one time charge. Verichat has a yearly fee because you use one of their servers to stay online while in standby mode. Mundu connects directly to the IM servers. So far I have had a couple resets but have not noticed any battery drain.

UPDATE: OK Mundu sucks, freezes and resets my phone more often than not...nice idea, but back to Verichat.

Oct 5th...

Is opening night for the NHL. It's about time. I almost bought season tickets for The Eagles. I'll admit, if this was the MLB or NBA that had this long of a hold out, I probably would never watch another game. Some of the new rules changes should make for fun games (elimination of the red line for two line passes, one overtime then shootout). So good news for Colorado hockey fans, not only do we have the Eagles, the Avs will be back and it sounds like we will be getting another CHL team in Broomfield in the near future.
